International Flamenco Dancer | Live Flamenco in Barcelona

Auxi Fernández, a flamenco dancer born in Cádiz, is one of the most internationally acclaimed artists of today’s flamenco scene. She began dancing at the age of five at Pilar Ogalla’s school and made her stage debut shortly after at the Teatro Andalucía in Cádiz, revealing an early and powerful connection to flamenco.

Her artistic training was shaped by some of the greatest flamenco masters, including Manolo Marín, Adela Campallo, Chiqui de Jerez and Güito. Throughout her career, she has been invited to collaborate with world-renowned artists such as Chick Corea, Jorge Pardo, Simon Shaheen, Tim Ries and José María Bandera, among many others. She has also shared the stage with leading figures like Carles Benavent, Concha Buika, Niño Josele, Jeff Ballard, La Tana and Alain Pérez.

In 2005, after more than three years as a principal dancer in Sara Baras’ company, Auxi was personally invited by Chick Corea to take part in the recording of the DVD Touchstone at the Teatro Musical in Barcelona. This collaboration led to extensive international tours across Spain, the United States and Japan. That same year, she expanded her artistic range by studying acting at the Juan Carlos Corazza International Acting Studio in Madrid.

Based in New York for several years, Auxi Fernández developed her own creative voice as a choreographer and director. In 2013, she premiered her first original production, Encontrándote, at the Tucson Flamenco Festival, blending flamenco and theatrical interpretation. She later created Caminos, premiered at the Flamenco Festival of New York and the Flamenco Festival of Chicago, and presented at the Thalia Theatre in New York. Her production Flamenco earned a nomination for Best Musical Theatre Production at the ACE Awards in New York, followed by Aires Flamencos, commissioned for the Flamenco Festival of Chicago.

Auxi Fernández has performed at prestigious theatres, festivals and venues worldwide, including the Teatro Real (Spain), Théâtre des Champs-Élysées (Paris), City Center (New York), Bellas Artes (Mexico), the Bienal de Sevilla at the Maestranza, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and major flamenco festivals in Europe and the Americas.

In addition to her stage career, she has participated in numerous audiovisual projects, documentaries and international productions, further establishing her reputation as a versatile and expressive flamenco artist.

At El Duende by Tablao Cordobes, Auxi Fernández presents a powerful flamenco show in Barcelona, offering audiences the chance to watch live flamenco in Barcelona in an intimate setting. Her performances embody the essence of flamenco, making El Duende one of the most authentic places to experience live flamenco at a flamenco bar in Barcelona.
